Personal experience showed me that there was a huge gap in the service, support and advice available to people who are themselves closely involved with supporting others with cancer. So if you are family, friend, carer or colleague or know someone who has cancer and you need someone to talk to then we are the people to contact. We can offer you help and support from personal experience.
I joined the Cancervive team on Day 1 having been invited to by Paul. I lost my mother to cancer in 2006 and my Dad in 2012 and have lost friends with cancer, so have a little understanding of the thoughts and feelings that can arise when someone we know or love is diagnosed.
My hope is, that by being part of this organisation, I can simply be a listening ear.
I wanted to be part of the charity having experienced the effect cancer can have on a family and felt that I was a good listener and had understanding and compassion to help others, I find the charity very worthwhile and rewarding especially when you can see how important it is when Paul listens to people that come to the charity for help and support, he really makes a difference being able to give that person special support. I’m proud to be part of such an important charity.
Having had experience of cancer in my close family and seen what Paul and the rest of the team had achieved in the first year, I was really pleased to have the opportunity to join Cancervive and help support the aims of this very worthwhile charity.
I joined Cancervive for several reasons, my mum passed away in April 2014 after an eighteen month battle with cancer. Cancervive supported me through the most difficult time for me and continue to do so. I would like to help people in memory of my mum, I am also proud and honoured to be asked to be a part of this wonderful charity.
